Shocker baseball looks to end season on high note (Guest article by Logan Henricks)

Through Wichita State’s first 18 games, they were sitting at 7-11. Knowing they had to turn their season around, the Shockers looked to go on a hot streak.

They looked to be heading in the right direction midway through March, as they were able to win 11 of 12 games. In the 12 games, the Shockers pulled off wins over quality teams in Memphis, Kansas and Kansas State. During the hot streak, they averaged just over 7 runs per game, while only allowing a smidge over 3.

However, in their last 18 games, Wichita State is an abysmal 4-14. In the 18 games, the Shockers have been outscored in total runs by a margin of 117 to just 60.

The team will need senior Luke Ritter to continue his consistent play in the Shockers final games. Ritter leads the team in BA (.337) H (62) and HR (9).

Sitting with an overall record of 22-26, the Shockers know there would nothing sweeter than to win their final 7 games. Starting today, they have a three-game weekend home-stand against East Carolina.

The following Tuesday Wichita State heads down to Oklahoma for a game against Oral Roberts.

Two days later, they travel to Florida for their season finale three-game series against South Florida.
