McDuffie named The American’s Player of the Week

After leading the Shockers to a road win against Providence College on Friday, senior forward Markis McDuffie was named the American Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week.

McDuffie had a career-high of 32 points in Wichita State’s Veteran’s Classic win against Providence College.

As leading scorer, McDuffie hit 12-19 from the field and 6-9 from behind the arc.

In the past week, McDuffie averaged 20 points, 3.5 threes, and two steals.

McDuffie shares the conference honors with Shizz Alston, Jr, a senior guard from Temple. Alston was also named this week’s Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 30 points in the Owls’ win over Detroit Mercy.

Alston is just 11 points away from reaching a career 1,000 points. The Temple senior averaged 21.5 points in a 2-0 week and shot 50 percent from deep, and averaged six assists per game.
